This handsome vintage pair of wheel back side chairs by Ardley Hall reflects the enduring appeal of classical English-inspired design adapted for mid-20th century interiors. Each chair features an elegant pierced wheel back with carved central splat and radiating supports, framed by a molded oval crest rail that gives the form both lightness and architectural presence. The finely turned and fluted front legs, carved corner blocks, and shaped seat rails further echo Georgian and Hepplewhite influences, executed in warmly toned wood with a pleasing traditional finish.

The chairs retain their upholstered seats in a later striped fabric that complements the formal character of the design while remaining versatile enough for dining, occasional seating, or desk use. The upholstery is in very good condition, presenting cleanly and ready for immediate placement, while the chairs’ balanced proportions and decorative backs make them especially attractive where the silhouette can be appreciated — around a dining table, flanking a console, or used as accent seating in a traditional interior.
