This impressive limited edition porcelain sculpture by Kaiser of West Germany captures the strength and symbolism of the American bald eagle with tremendous realism and presence. Created as part of a special edition of only 200 pieces commemorating the 200th anniversary of the American Bald Eagle as a symbol of the United States, this example is numbered 12/200, making it an especially early and desirable piece from the series. Sculptures from this edition have notable historical association as well, with one example reportedly presented by President Ronald Reagan to Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, adding an interesting layer of diplomatic and collectible significance to the work.

The sculpture showcases the exceptional craftsmanship Kaiser became known for during the 20th century. The eagle is dramatically posed atop a weathered tree stump with partially spread wings, creating a wonderfully commanding silhouette. The individually sculpted feathers are richly hand painted in warm brown tones with crisp white plumage at the head and tail, while the sharp eyes and detailed talons give the figure remarkable character and realism. The underside inscription further documents the piece as “A Kaiser Sculpture of Wildlife,” identifying the hand-painted limited edition and commemorative nature of the work. The overall presentation feels both refined and patriotic, making it equally suitable for a sophisticated study, office, library, or Americana collection.

The sculpture is in nice vintage condition overall with age-appropriate wear. As noted, the very tip of the eagle’s beak has been chipped off at some point in its history. Fortunately, the imperfection is relatively subtle and not especially distracting when displayed normally, though it can be seen upon close inspection. Otherwise, the sculpture presents beautifully and remains a highly decorative and increasingly hard-to-find example of fine German porcelain artistry. Shipping can be arranged upon request. 23.5h x 14w x 21d
