Lillian August Oversized French Bergère Lounge Chair & Ottoman, Down Filled

This generously scaled lounge chair and matching ottoman by Lillian August offer the relaxed comfort of an oversized reading chair with the graceful character of a French bergère. Inspired by traditional Louis XV seating, the set combines a tall shaped back, open arms, and flowing curves with deep, inviting proportions. It would make a wonderful centerpiece for a library, bedroom, or living room and is especially well suited to settling in with a book.

The exposed hardwood frames have a warm fruitwood-toned finish, carved scroll feet, serpentine aprons, and gracefully shaped arm supports. Both pieces are upholstered in a soft blue-green fabric with an allover gold damask pattern and self-welted edges. The chair includes plush down-filled seat and back cushions along with a coordinating lumbar pillow, while the broad cushioned ottoman creates a comfortable chaise-like arrangement when placed in front.

The chair and ottoman are in nice vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use, including softening and settling to the down-filled cushions, light fabric wear, fading and color variation, minor marks, and scattered scratches and finish wear to the exposed wood. The upholstery has a comfortably lived-in appearance while remaining attractive and usable.
