The secretary is crafted in richly figured mahogany, with especially striking flame mahogany veneers across the drawer fronts. The lower case is fitted with three graduated drawers retaining oval brass pulls, while the bookcase section rests above a pair of small drawers and the writing surface. Fine banding and carefully selected veneers add visual depth without overwhelming the restrained Federal design. The shaped apron and gently flared feet lighten the substantial case, and the combination of warm mahogany, aged glass, and brass gives the piece the character and patina that make period Federal furniture so appealing.
The secretary is **in nice antique condition**, with age-related wear, surface variation, and minor imperfections consistent with more than two centuries of use. It has undergone professional restoration during its lifetime, and the brass finials, including the eagle finial, are later reproductions. The hand-scraped pine top, backboards, and period fasteners are consistent with the early construction of the case. Overall, it presents beautifully and remains a very usable piece of period furniture, equally suited to a traditional interior or as a strong architectural statement in a more contemporary room. Shipping can be arranged upon request. 77h x 38w x 18d
