This finely worked Antique Qajar Persian copper ewer dates to the 19th century, a period spanning roughly 1789 to 1925, when Persian metalwork reached a high level of decorative refinement. The form is both elegant and purposeful, with a long tapering spout, gracefully curved handle, and a rounded body that reflects traditional Islamic design influences. Pieces like this were both utilitarian and artistic, often serving as statements of craftsmanship within the home, and this example has a wonderful presence that speaks to that dual purpose.

The surface is richly engraved with intricate bands of geometric and foliate decoration, centering on a beautifully detailed medallion featuring an animal motif. I love the way the engraving catches the light across the curved surface, giving the piece a subtle depth and movement. The proportions are particularly pleasing, with the elongated spout balancing the rounded body, while the handle flows naturally from neck to shoulder. It’s the kind of piece that works equally well as a decorative object or as part of a thoughtfully curated collection of Islamic or Persian works.

It remains in nice antique condition, showing age-appropriate wear consistent with use, including some areas of abrasion to the surface as shown, particularly on one side of the body. The underside retains what appears to be an old engraved collection or inventory mark reading “Romer” along with catalog numbers, suggesting it was at one time part of a documented collection. The wear and patina throughout only add to its authenticity and character, and the piece displays very well. 15h x 11w x 5d
