This finely made early 20th century khatam inlaid jewelry box is a beautiful example of Middle Eastern decorative woodworking, likely produced in Persia or the Syrian region. The surface is richly patterned with precise geometric motifs built from countless tiny pieces of contrasting woods and light-colored inlay, arranged in layered diamonds, stars, and linear borders. The warm tones and tightly composed design give the box a refined and harmonious presence.

Boxes of this type were traditionally used to store jewelry, letters, or other personal valuables, and they were prized as much for their artistry as their function. The careful balance of pattern and proportion makes this piece especially appealing displayed closed, where the intricate surface can be fully appreciated. It works equally well as a functional storage box or as a decorative object on a desk, shelf, or table.

In nice antique condition with wear consistent with age and use. There is light surface wear and minor inlay loss in places, typical for khatam work of this period and entirely in keeping with its age and history. A handsome and collectible example of early 20th century Middle Eastern craftsmanship. 2.5h x 9.5w x 6d
