This elegant French Empire gilt wood vanity mirror dates to the mid-19th century and beautifully reflects the refined neoclassical taste of the period. Designed for use atop a dressing table or console, it features a deeply molded gilt frame with a classical scroll crest and carved foliate accents at the lower corners. The stepped plinth base retains an attractive aged painted surface, adding wonderful character and contrast to the warm gilding above.

The mirror rests on ornate gilt supports that lift it slightly above the base, giving the piece a graceful sense of elevation. The plate itself appears to be original and shows the expected signs of age, including soft clouding, mottling, and light imperfections that add to its antique charm. The worn gilding, scattered wear to the frame, and patina across the carved details all speak to generations of use, lending this piece the authenticity and presence collectors appreciate.

A delightful accent for a dressing room, powder room, or bedroom, this French Empire mirror offers both decorative appeal and an intimate scale that makes it easy to place. Whether used functionally or displayed as an objet d’art, it brings a timeless elegance to any interior. In nice antique condition with wear consistent with age and normal use. 33h x 25w x 6d
