Vintage Rock Maple Cannonball Queen Size Bed

A handsome vintage American rock maple cannonball bed, featuring the traditional turned-post construction and warm, natural wood tones associated with classic American Colonial Revival furniture. Inspired by early American bedsteads, this substantial queen-size bed combines a beautifully shaped headboard, decorative spindle-style footboard, and four boldly turned posts topped with distinctive cannonball finials. The simple, well-balanced design and attractive maple grain give the bed a timeless appeal, making it equally suitable for a traditional bedroom, country farmhouse, or thoughtfully furnished contemporary home. Its sturdy proportions and inviting golden color reflect the enduring popularity of solid maple bedroom furniture throughout the 20th century.

Crafted in rock maple, the bed features a generously proportioned headboard with a gracefully shaped upper edge, flanked by turned posts with rounded cannonball finials. The footboard is particularly attractive, incorporating a long, elaborately turned horizontal spindle above a shaped lower panel, creating a pleasing combination of traditional craftsmanship and decorative detail. The substantial corner posts feature a series of turned rings, rounded elements, and tapered sections, giving the bed its distinctive Colonial Revival character. The maple displays attractive grain patterns and a warm honey-colored finish that highlights the natural beauty of the wood. Traditional side rails complete the frame, providing a practical foundation for a queen-size mattress and box spring or suitable modern bedding support.

The bed is in nice antique or vintage condition, showing scattered surface marks, minor scratches, and light variations in color and finish consistent with its age and normal use. The maple retains an attractive golden patina, with the turned posts and decorative spindle remaining particularly appealing features. The substantial construction and classic design make this a practical choice for everyday use, while its warm wood tones and traditional styling bring a welcoming sense of character to a bedroom. A charming and versatile example of American Colonial Revival furniture that combines traditional craftsmanship, enduring style, and modern comfort. 47h x 62w x 91d
