This charming diminutive secrétaire à abattant is executed in the Louis XV taste and dates to the 19th century, featuring richly veneered kingwood and tulipwood floral marquetry panels framed by a shaped rococo profile. The case is raised on graceful cabriole legs with gilt bronze sabots and mounts, and is topped with a beautifully figured marble slab in warm tones that complement the cabinet’s decorative veneer work.

The fall front and lower cabinet doors open to fitted interior compartments intended for writing and correspondence, making the piece both practical and highly decorative. The floral marquetry is especially delightful, with scrolling sprays, birds, and foliage over angled veneer grounds echoing 18th-century French ornamental vocabulary. Its diminutive scale makes it highly desirable today, as it can function comfortably in entryways, bedrooms, or living rooms without dominating a space.

In nice antique condition consistent with age and normal use, with minor veneer shrinkage, small chips, and wear to the case and mounts visible on close inspection.
