This lot includes three original double-sided cardboard trolley signs from the Hartford, Connecticut transit system, dating to around the 1940s. These signs were once displayed on streetcars serving routes such as “Capitol Ave. to Quaker Lane,” “Retreat Ave.,” and “Main - Gold St.” The reverse sides display additional routes: “Capitol Ave. to Prospect Ave.,” “Washington St.,” and “South St. Hayes Cor.” Their bold black lettering on a tan or cream background made them easily readable to riders and passersby.

These signs offer a glimpse into the everyday infrastructure of mid-century Hartford life. Each retains its original printing and bears evidence of age and use, including creasing, fading, staining, tack holes, and some edge damage—particularly a notable missing corner on the “Main - Gold St.” sign and a tear on “South St. Hayes Cor.” Despite these imperfections, the signs remain sturdy and legible, and they have real charm as decorative objects or collectibles.

They are in vintage condition consistent with age and normal use. These pieces would be equally at home in a transit history collection or as graphic wall art evoking Connecticut’s transportation past. 5 x 17
