This lot of three original route signs from the Hartford Trolley Lines offers a fascinating window into the transportation history of Connecticut’s capital city. These cardboard signs, dating to around 1940, would have been displayed on electric trolleys to indicate their destinations along well-known local routes. The lot includes signage for East Hartford High School, Sycamore Lane, and Capitol Ave. Boulevard—routes that would have served both residential commuters and public institutions during the height of the trolley era.

Each sign is hand-stenciled with bold black lettering on a tan background, typical of the utilitarian style of public transit signage at the time. While simple in design, the stark typography and period-specific route names give these pieces a strong visual impact that would make them ideal for framing or display in a transit-themed or industrial-inspired interior.

All three signs are in nice antique condition consistent with age and normal use. There are scattered stains, pinholes, and edge wear visible in the photos, including a small nick to the edge of the Sycamore Lane sign. These flaws are typical for transit ephemera of this age and only add to their authenticity and charm. 5 x 17
