This detailed map of colonial Boston reproduces John Bonner’s celebrated 1722 survey after the 1835 edition published by George G. Smith. Titled “The Town of Boston in New England,” it offers a fascinating view of the city’s early streets, wharves, landmarks, and surrounding waterways. The map is both an engaging historical document and an impressive decorative piece for a library, study, office, or New England collection.

Hand-colored details highlight the roads, buildings, trees, harbor, and sailing vessels throughout the composition. The map is presented beneath glass in a substantial antique oak frame with a small brass title plaque and colorful applied decoration featuring stylized Native American motifs, including a shield, arrows, a pipe, and other implements across the upper rail. A handwritten inscription on the reverse records that it was purchased at Old North Church in Boston in 1961, adding a charming layer of provenance.
