This striking Turkish village rug, woven in the early 20th century, features a highly decorative layout of four bold medallions set within a grid-like composition. Each quadrant displays a radiant star motif surrounded by stepped ram’s horn forms, all rendered in a warm palette of ivory, gold, red, and black. The repeating meander borders and layered framing elements lend structure and rhythm to the design while retaining the relaxed charm of village craftsmanship.

Woven in wool on a cotton foundation, the rug retains a thick and luxurious pile with excellent softness underfoot. It remains in very good vintage condition with only minor wear and slight curling at the edges from past use. The rich tones and graphic symmetry give this rug great versatility—it feels at home in both eclectic bohemian interiors and more tailored, contemporary spaces.

Whether anchoring a living room, brightening a bedroom, or adding a sense of symmetry to a sitting area, this piece offers a joyful and timeless expression of Anatolian textile tradition.

This rug comes from the private collection of a prominent antique rug dealer based in Amherst, Massachusetts, known for curating fine Persian and Oriental carpets over several decades.
