This antique Louis XVI oak bachelor’s chest, dating to the late 18th century, is a refined example of neoclassical elegance with a touch of rustic charm. Crafted in oak with a warm, mellow patina, the chest features four graduated drawers set within a crisply carved case adorned with fluted corners, floral blocks, and a bold dentil molding along the top. The proportions are compact and functional, making it ideal as a nightstand, entry piece, or small-scale dresser.
The chest retains its original cast brass medallion pulls and escutcheons, adding to its classical appeal. Raised on tapered legs with carved capitals and flared feet, the form has a pleasing symmetry and architectural strength. Side-mounted brass carrying handles hint at its original use as a portable or standalone gentleman’s chest. It has a quietly stately presence that would mix beautifully into both traditional and transitional interiors.
In nice antique condition with wear consistent with age and normal use. There is some expected surface wear, light abrasions, and minor shrinkage to the top and drawer fronts as shown in the photos, all of which contribute to its authentic antique character. The drawers function smoothly, and the overall structure is sturdy and sound. 32h x 31w x 18d
