Crafted from richly figured mahogany, the table features a beautifully figured oval top supported by a gracefully turned pedestal that flows into three molded cabriole legs terminating in well-carved pad feet. The warm color and natural patina of the mahogany have developed beautifully over more than two centuries, while the restrained inlaid decoration highlights the elegant simplicity of the design. Whether used as a lamp table, occasional table, or traditional tea table, it remains a timeless addition to both period and contemporary interiors.
The table is in nice antique condition, consistent with age and normal use. It retains an attractive antique surface with expected signs of wear, including scattered light marks and finish wear from generations of careful use that contribute to its authentic character. The tilt-top mechanism operates as intended, and the table is sturdy, stable, and ready to be enjoyed in the home.
