This antique French bergère arm chair is executed in the Louis XV Rococo style and dates to the mid-19th century. The chair features a classic enclosed back with softly flowing serpentine lines, carved walnut frame, and elegant cabriole legs terminating in subtly scrolled feet. The sculpted crest rail and shaped arms reflect the graceful asymmetry and refined ornamentation associated with the Rococo aesthetic.
The chair has been upholstered in a newer damask fabric in a soft neutral palette, decorated with scrolling foliate motifs that complement the fluid carving of the frame. The upholstery is well done and presents cleanly, offering a comfortable and inviting seat while maintaining an appropriate period look. The walnut frame displays a warm patina with gentle wear that highlights the carving and enhances the chair’s character.
Overall, the chair is in nice antique condition, with light wear to the wood consistent with age and normal use. The upholstery remains in very good condition, making this piece suitable for immediate use in a living room, bedroom, or study. A classic French form that works equally well as an accent chair or as part of a traditional interior. 38h x 29w x 29d seat height 17
