A refined early 19th-century Federal period flame mahogany secretary, crafted with a beautifully balanced sense of proportion and elegance characteristic of the young American Republic. The upper section features a pair of blind doors concealing storage compartments and small drawers, while the lower case houses four graduated drawers, each faced with highly figured bookmatched mahogany veneers that shimmer with depth and movement.

The piece rests gracefully on French splayed feet with a shaped apron, and retains a set of antique brass pulls that are period-appropriate but not original. Fine line inlay and crossbanded borders highlight the craftsmanship and attention to detail of the period cabinetmaker. The interior reveals original pine secondary woods, typical of early 19th-century construction, and the drawers glide smoothly, testifying to its enduring quality.

In nice antique condition consistent with age and normal use, showing gentle surface wear, a warm even patina, and some expected veneer repairs that blend well with the original finish. A handsome and functional example of Federal-era furniture design, equally suitable for a study, library, or elegant entryway. 52h x 41w x 20d
