This richly detailed china cabinet was made by Berkey & Gay around 1920 and reflects the firm’s reputation for high-quality craftsmanship and historic revival design. Executed in the Elizabethan Revival style, the upper cabinet doors are hand-painted with dramatic urns of stylized flowers, framed by a deep green border and secured with ornate iron strap hinges and a large, decorative central escutcheon. A carved scalloped frieze crowns the piece, nodding to the grandeur of 17th-century English design.
Below, a single wide drawer features a beautifully bookmatched walnut front and is fitted with decorative brass pulls. The lower section is supported by elaborately turned legs with scroll-carved corners and a box stretcher base, adding strength and visual weight. Berkey & Gay’s signature blend of artistry and construction is evident throughout, making this cabinet as durable as it is decorative.
In nice antique condition with wear consistent with age and normal use, including some finish wear and a few minor scuffs.
