This handsome antique American chest of drawers dates to the late 18th century and reflects the enduring influence of the Chippendale tradition in New England furniture making. Constructed of pine, the chest features a classic graduated four-drawer configuration beneath a molded top, with clean lines and restrained proportions that speak to its regional craftsmanship. The form and construction are consistent with work attributed to makers in the Northampton, Massachusetts area, known for producing well-balanced, functional furniture with subtle stylistic refinement.

The warm surface shows a pleasing, time-softened patina, with visible grain and honest wear that highlight its early origins. Each drawer is fitted with period-appropriate brass hardware, including pierced escutcheons and bail pulls, which complement the chest’s understated character. The shaped bracket feet provide a graceful base and reinforce the piece’s Chippendale roots while maintaining a distinctly American vernacular feel.

The chest is in nice antique condition, with surface wear, small marks, and variations to the pine consistent with age and normal use. These details add to the authenticity and visual appeal rather than detract from it. A versatile and historically appealing piece, this chest works equally well in a period interior or as a grounding element in a more eclectic setting. 42h x 42w x 19d
