This handsome Baluch rug from Northeast Persia, dating to the late 19th century, features a beautifully restrained palette and a field design composed of a stylized “Tree of Life” repeat—an enduring symbol of growth and continuity in Persian weaving. The deep indigo field is adorned with finely drawn geometric botehs and tree forms arranged in orderly rows, bordered by a crisp ivory and red zigzag meander and flanked by narrow guard stripes that enhance the architectural feel of the piece.

The rug’s narrow width and elongated proportions make it particularly well-suited for use as a gallery runner, in a vestibule, or layered over natural wood floors in transitional spaces. The natural dyes have aged with grace, producing a warm patina and a soft visual rhythm that’s equally appreciated by collectors and decorators alike.

In fair antique condition with overall wear and areas of pile loss that lend it a distinctive sense of age and character. From the private collection of a respected antique rug dealer in Amherst, MA.
