This beautifully restored 17-foot Charles River model canoe was built by Old Town Canoe Co. in 1910, during the golden age of handcrafted wooden watercraft. Known for their elegant curves, splayed stems, and graceful profile, Charles River models were prized for their smooth tracking and striking appearance. This example captures that tradition in full, blending historical integrity with refined restoration.

The canoe was carefully recanvased and finished with Epifanes Yacht Enamel, a premium marine-grade coating known for its mirror-like gloss and exceptional durability. The deep green hull with hand-applied gold striping highlights the flowing lines of the boat and complements the warm mahogany gunwales, thwarts, and seat frames. The seat caning at bow and stern was redone during the restoration and remains tight and supportive. Most distinctively, the interior retains its original darkened varnish, preserved beneath a protective overcoat. The decision to keep the interior finish intact allows the canoe’s story to remain visible—decades of use etched into the warm tones of aged wood.

In nice antique condition consistent with age and careful restoration, this canoe is watertight and structurally sound, ready for display or gentle use. Minor expected imperfections serve as a reminder of its long life. Whether suspended in a boathouse, placed in a lodge, or launched for a quiet paddle, this canoe is both a vessel and a testament to craftsmanship that endures. 23h x 35w x 204L
